Never knew it's located in the same strip of the DMV and Harbor Freight I have gone many times. So this time I've decided to stop by. Good customer service to take your order and the food was prepared quickly without too much waiting. I ordered the 808 fried chicken with macaroni. Good portion size.
10/10. So good. They plan to move 1/2 mile to a new location so keep an eye out for changes. Loco moco was authentic and delicious. Pulled pork was sooo flavorful and yummy. Best Mac salad. Prices were great, portions were big. I will be back!
This is our go yo when we want Hawaiian food. They have a regular menu and a specials board each day. Everything I have ever ordered has been really good If you are lucky there will be passion fruit cheesecake available. I have only been able to get it one time. Service is friendly and attentive. The restais clean and organized. Merch is available to purchase. You order at the counter and then your food is brought out. I love all of the sauces!
The Kalua pork and mac was next-level ono delicious — tender, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth goodness paired with the creamiest mac salad. Each bite was bursting with authentic flavor that transported me straight to the islands. Bonus: the sweet wasabi sauce was a total standout! The outdoor patio is the perfect spot for a sunny day, giving the whole experience a laid-back, island feel. 10/10. Authentic, flavorful, and fit the vibe of aloha spirit. We’ll definitely be back!
We honestly never planned on having Hawaiian food at our wedding, but we did a tasting at 808 Grinds and were completely blown away. Their food was just on another level, so choosing them ended up being an easy decision. The whole team was super easy to work with. Really quick to communicate and very organized. We did a buffet style dinner and had fruit trays during cocktail hour. For the meal they made beef, chicken, noodles, poke, the most addicting wonton chips, mac salad, regular salad, rice, and a bunch of different sauces. Everything tasted amazing. People were literally filling their plates to the top and going back for seconds and thirds. Even now, three months later, our guests keep bringing up how much they loved the food and how it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. They also sent us home with all the leftovers, and we happily ate them for days. They also did a great job bringing everything fully prepared since our venue didn’t have a kitchen. We highly recommend them! And we will definitely be stopping by 808 Grinds anytime we’re back in Portland!
Solid 4.5. Fresh, perfectly cooked and generous portions. I got Fried Chicken and smoked pork. The chicken had generous sized pieces without being overly breaded and the pork had a natural smoke flavor that tasted fresh from a pit smoker. Bravo
The food here was absolutely delightful from start to finish. We ordered three different plates and every single dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. You can really taste how fresh the ingredients are, and the portions were generous without feeling overwhelming. There wasn’t a single bite we didn’t enjoy. The service was excellent friendly, and welcoming. A quick side note it is counter service. One of my favorite parts of the evening was the live music. There was a solo musician playing guitar and singing, and he created the perfect laid-back Hawaiian atmosphere. His voice was genuinely good, and the songs added so much to the vibe. The whole experience was so relaxing and happy. From the delicious food to the warm service and great live entertainment, it was the perfect spot for a quick bite too. I’ll definitely be back anytime I’m on this side of town, and I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Hawaiian food and a fun, welcoming environment.
This is our favorite Hawaiian restaurant in town. The food quality and consistency is excellent, especially for the price. We LOVE their garlic fries with their sweet wasabi dipping sauce. You can't go wrong with their plate lunches and they have amazing desserts.
